Drop Dead Gorgeous
The band’s name is a play on words of the phrase “drop-dead gorgeous”. They released their first EP, Be Mine, Valentine on Rise Records in January 2006 when half of the band was still in high school, followed by their first full length album in May 2006, In Vogue. They originally could only tour for 3 months across the U.S. and through Canada due to the fact that both guitarists and their drummer hadn’t graduated high school. In 2006, they signed to Geffen/Suretone Records, and their new record was to be produced by Dennis Lomet. They filmed a music video for “Dressed for Friend Requests” when they played their homecoming show in Denver over their last 2006 tour before heading into the studio to record the follow up to In Vogue. The new record entitled Worse Than A Fairy Tale was released on August 14, 2007 and debuted at #139 on the Billboard Top 200. The band has seen some lineup shifts since August 2006 after 2 years of having the same six members. However, as of June 2007, the original lineup was intact again, until December 20, 2007 when keyboardist/vocalist Aaron Rothe announced his departure from the band.
Their third studio album “The Hot N’ Heavy” was released June 2, and Two Birds, One Stone will be a single on June 1. The Hot ‘n Heavy peaked at #192 on the Billboard 200.
