Deathcore merupakan penggabungan dua genre musik: metalcore dan death metal, maksudnya gabungan disini, mereka memfusionkan antara ketukan drum metalcore dan deathmetal, vokal growl ala death metal dan scream ala metalcore. ciri ciri band deathcore yaitu lebih mengedepankan breakdown. teknik vokal dan growl scream berbarengan.

Karakteristik Musik Deathcore
Vokal Deathcore lebih sering growl campur scream seram seperti Grindcore, namun ciri khas Deathcore menonjol dengan melakukan teknik slamming. Slamming adalah teknik growling yang berkesan suara babi. Sering disebut "Piggy Sound". Tergantung dari lagu-lagunya, biasanya hanya sekedar "huiiiik" (tanpa lirik). Gitar Deathcore terkadang stem gitar dari drop D sampai B (tergantung apresiasi musik itu sendiri). Biasanya tipe ritmik chord-chord pentatonik. Melodinya pun berkarakter, dari yang kromatik biasa sampai arpeggios. Drum Hampir semua metal, drumnya selalu memakai double bass. Namun, Deathcore memiliki ciri khas tersendiri dalam teknik drum yang sering disebut blasting. Blasting adalah teknik menghentak snare lebih banyak ketimbang cymbal. Teknik Blasting itu sendiri sering muncul dalam musik-musik jazz.
